How to Build a Coach Approach within Organizations

Session Summary:

Over the past 20 years, Ian McDermott has advised, designed and delivered Coach Approach programs for numerous organizations that have positively impacted both the culture and the bottom line. These organizations range from mining to banking and include non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

In his conference session on “How to Build a Coach Approach within Organizations”, Ian will outline the key challenges that come with introducing a Coach Approach – and what to do to address these – plus the how to’s that have proven particularly effective for ensuring it actually delivers. As Ian says “while a Board mandate is always a plus, it is not necessary to begin or to succeed in introducing a Coach Approach.”

Speaker’s Bio:

Having trained a generation of coaches both in-house and through public accredited programs, Ian McDermott came to the view that coaching was far too important to be left to coaches only. That’s how he came to develop Coach Approach programs for leaders, managers, and organizations.

Based in the US (Connecticut) and the UK (London) he holds various academic positions and is a prolific author. His books have been translated into over 20 languages. They include The Art of Systems Thinking, The Coaching Bible, and The Collaborative Leader: The Ultimate Leadership Challenge.

Ian knows what it takes to run a successful business long-term. He is the Founder of International Teaching Seminars which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018. He focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship – and therefore leadership.
